Not only was it not what I expected it to be, but better as well. Good debut for a new author, I hope to see more about Austin and Niko. Dmitri intrigues me and I think he has more to tell us too. I have to admit, I don't expect much from vampire books anymore. There are so many that are disappointing. I love when I'm pleasantly surprised and that there are still some authors who can write vampires that invoke a little fear. The incubus v. vampire storyline was an interesting premise that I hope will be explored in future book(s). It seems as though it was set up that way, but still gives enough closure as to not leave you dangling off a cliff. Another welcome surprise. I will be on the lookout for a hopeful sequel.
